With the full support of the Sanctuary of Fatima, we are doing a documentary called “Fatima and the World”.  One of the episodes will be filmed here in California in May of this year.

I’m Fr. Luis Proenca and I’m a Professor at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.  I’ll be directing the filming in California. Here in California we are trying to show the richness and diversity of Our Lady of Fatima devotion and spirituality.

I’m attaching some documents and the support letter of the Sanctuary of Fatima to this project. In annex I’m also adding some extra information regarding this interesting and unique documentary project.

"Fatima and the World" most significant aspects

This documentary film 'Fatima and the World' will be structured in one series of three episodes, each with a duration of 55 minutes, covering some of the main shrines around the world, and other points of interest, such as special processions, pilgrimages and locations of memorial. The running thread through all three series is the devotion and history of the presence of Our lady of Fatima in the various countries, enhancing the following aspects:

MOTHER

There is only One Lady, but She is the Mother of all, and Our Lady of Fatima has a special acceptance in countries of Marian devotion.

EMIGRATION

The devotion to Our Lady of Fatima becomes a great factor of unity among Portuguese Communities living abroad from generation to generation - sometimes the grandchild don't speak Portuguese anymore, but the devotion lives on.

The Post Production of this documentary has started and the project will be finished by the beginning of 2007.  The project was commissioned by the Portuguese Radio Television International (RTPi) and it will be broadcast all over the world.  The National Television of East Timor will also broadcast this documentary.
